Frequently Asked Questions
What are SDGs?
The SDGs (sustainable development goals) are seventeen goals to make the world a better place, with a deadline of 2030, and started in 2015. The SDGs have been agreed by the countries that are members of the United Nations (UN), including the Netherlands. The goals were based on worldwide input from organizations and individuals. They are a global compass for challenges such as poverty, education and the climate crisis. The SDGs are the successors to the Millennium Development Goals. There are 169 targets behind the seventeen targets. They make it even more concrete.
What does ecological return mean?
Ecological return means that a project supports at least one or more SDGs of the UN. Sustainable investing leads to a comparable return as unsustainable investing. In fact, sustainable investments are increasingly yielding more financial returns. Investing has traditionally been a tradeoff between risk and return. More and more companies are becoming more sustainable, they take climate change and environmental issues seriously, they see this as a large part of their risk management. Both through disasters and through legislation.
