A worldwide educational problem

Book reading is declining, as people find it harder and less enjoyable to read. This is happening worldwide: to younger generations, it’s just not appealing. This is a big problem as reading is an essential skill with many positive effects. Why is this happening? Digital reading has just not evolved along with our devices and media.

The best reading experience

Using everything the phone can do, at Immer we created the world’s best phone reading experience. It makes text so nice and smooth, readers focus quicker and go deeper into the story or topic. With features like the book navigator and session report, we increase comprehension and recollecting, helping readers understand & remember more, getting more value from the same books. Finally, we integrate reading into people’s lives, with social reading and with reading habit features that help people read during the day, also enabled by the phone’s mobility.

Unique text technology

Our all-in-one reading product runs on unique technology. We tailor any long-form text to any device and preference automatically, using text analysis. This means that the style of the text, and the reading tools that are offered, can be different for each reader. We’ve automated the processing of content catalogs, so we can do it at scale, and we also provide actionable usage insights.

B2B customers give us access to readers

Our customers are companies and institutions who are in the business of reading: professional and academic publishers, reading platforms, and library and education service providers. By offering the Immer reading experience, they increase how much their customers read and spend. In effect, these B2B customers are our gateway to readers in stores, libraries, schools and in the workplace.

We’re the right team for the job: Niels (CEO) is a published author who has worked for game companies like Nintendo, and he’s researched digital reading for almost a decade. Lennart (CTO) has been shipping apps for 15 years now. Together they have 4 decades of business experience and their talented team is growing.

We got user validation through our Dutch test app with 10k readers, where we also got technical validation with 50k books from 30 publishing partners. We got scientific validation through a joint study with the Radboud University, and industry validation by winning the Renew the Book Innovation Award 2021 worth € 50k and becoming a ContentShift Accelerator 2022 finalist in Germany.

Finally, we already raised € 600k from a great group of 20 angel investors from the world of tech, business and culture.

We’re currently raising € 250k to develop our B2B business, expanding our engineering and sales team, and we’re expecting to break even within a year.
